Typical steps of primarily pre-production process. Let’s illustrate this procedure on Prague episode of travel show for National Geographic Abu Dhabi Hidden Secrets of Cities.
Locations
Filming should have taken a place mainly in Prague. Host had to discover and visit some famous places and then she would take the audience to discover new places that only locals know. We scouted and selected about 20 locations including most popular locations as surroundings of Charles bridge, Old Town Square and Prague Castle. After exchanging couple of emails with photos and remarks, we have prepared google map with exact location positions.
Location permits
Especially in Prague 1 it is a quite complex process to get location permits. It takes about 20 days in average. It is necessary to file 3 applications for 3 different institutions. Each location must be put in appropriate city plan. The sooner you file location permit application, the better. We had almost month to obtain permits, so we were okay. But mostly it is by a hair's breadth, or it is necessary to pay extra fee for accelerated procedure.
Story development I Shooting script
Unfamiliar places and interesting figures to interview, what a quite general assignment! We have researched dozens of characters who represent genius loci of Prague. Clockmaster of legendary Prague Old Town Square astronomical clock and boatman from Charles Bridge stood out among others. Great people to interview at such a photogenic locations as astronomical clock interior, Charles Bridge underground and water surface are!
Scheduling | Shooting plan
After securing local crew for filming and equipment rental, confirmation of accommodation and crew transfers, there is a time for final shooting plan version that corresponds to location permits dates, crew briefings, interviews, catering and even evening distractions!
Filming production support
After accurate preparations including right locations, securing location permits, local crew and shooting equipment, research and story development, we have ensured smooth progress of filming all scenes and interviews. Our vans reached all locations despite their very downtown and crowded position. We have filmed scenes what we planned and many, many more!
